Irish Success Story

The Butler’s Pantry Celebrates 25 Years In The Food Business!

100% Irish owned and run, award winning purveyors of hand-made Irish food, The Butler’s Pantry, will be celebrating their 25th Birthday tomorrow.  Launched on November 10th 1987 with just one small store in Mount Merrion Avenue, The Butler’s Pantry has grown into a flourishing food business with nine shops across Dublin and Wicklow.  From selling 12 dishes per day to 1600 a day, it is expected that sales tomorrow will break all records for the company as customers join The Butler’s Pantry to celebrate a fantastic 25 years in business.

An award winning brand, profitable and growing at a rate above industry averages and perched for a new phase of growth.

Surviving and indeed thriving through not one but two recessions, The Butler’s Pantry credits their success to listening to their customers both young and old knowing their likes and dislikes, new fashions and old favourites and making sure they are always well stocked up to meet demand by serving up the tastiest savoury and sweet treats all hand-made in their kitchens in Bray.  A key part of their success is working with their local artisan suppliers, who have been loyal, constantly supplying with the best fresh seasonal produce locally sourced and delivered to their kitchens and nine shops.

To coincide with their silver celebrations, The Butler’s Pantry will be launching their Re-brand of both packaging and shop design tomorrow.  Five new packs with illustrations telling the artisan story of how their home cooked meals are prepared with no additive or ‘funnies’ of any kind as so often present in ready made meals.  It quite simply is just like home cooking.  Very proud of their short shelf life the new packaging illustrates how the ingredients come from nature and nothing is added but care and attention to bring out the best tastes for their customers.

The Butler’s Pantry - It tastes home-cooked because it is!

The new shop design just completed in Rathgar and Sandymount is scheduled for roll out to all shops in 2013.  The shop interiors colours, use of natural finishes are all part of the brand message – it tastes home cooked because it is.

Gerard Whelan of Brand Central has played a critical role in the packaging design and will continue the rebranding exercise with The Butler’s Pantry.  Jacquie Marsh, MD, The Butler’s Pantry said of the new packaging

“25 years later and still opportunity for improvement that is what I love about this business.  This re-branding has been the most exciting to date with our point of difference now well and truly to the fore”.

The Butler’s Pantry is still growing with turnover at €4.5 million and increasing above industry averages, customer count is about to reach the half million mark and rising.  2013 will see further investment in kitchens, shops and brand enhancement

Jacquie Marsh, Managing Director of The Butler’s Pantry along with Niall Hill Executive Chef and Eoin Warner Head of Retail are incredibly proud to be part of this special celebration.  After a very prosperous 25 years in business Marsh said,

“I am surrounded by very talented and professional people who make The Butler’s Pantry what it is today. We have something very special we know that, and we look forward to bringing The Butler’s Pantry to the next level of growth, to sustain our best in class status and most importantly to continue to excite and delight our customers.”
