For nearly 20 years Coláiste Naomh Eoin has been successfully running Summer Gaeltacht Courses within the Leinster region but without the strain of leaving home or that added expense of accommodation. This summer Coláiste Naomh Eoin will once again be running fortnightly courses taking place in Dublin (Drumcondra, Rathmines, Ballinteer, Lucan and Rathfarnham), Meath, (Ashbourne and Bettystown), Kildare (Maynooth and Naas), Wicklow (Bray) and for the first time Kilkenny. The Gaeltacht Summer Courses will run throughout June and July with the first courses commencing in early June. The courses are designed for students aged eight to 18 year olds with small classes of approximately 20 students per class. At a cost of just €360 per child for the two weeks – every child can now have the Gaeltacht experience this summer. A special 10% discount applies to the second and subsequent children in the same family.
Establishing itself with a proven record of effectively cultivating, encouraging and fostering all the worthwhile elements of the Irish culture and language Coláiste Naomh Eoin also ensures that the children have a fun packed two weeks full of memories to last a lifetime.
Roibeárd O hAoláin, Course Director Coláiste Naomh Eoin said of their courses, “At Coláiste Naomh Eoin, our emphasis is on learning Irish through enjoyment and active participation. All of the team creates an atmosphere of informal, fun based learning whist maintaining standards of discipline. We also provide special help to students with little or no fluency. Bookings are coming in fast so we are looking forward to a fantastic fun filled summer as gaelige!”
Whilst understanding that learning Irish can be a daunting experience for some students, Coláiste Naomh Eoin continually revise and restructure the courses to provide the most modern teaching methods to ensure that each student benefits, irrespective of age or standard. They often find that only within a matter of days into a course, students are already thinking and talking ‘as Gaeilge’.
Coláiste Naomh Eoin is co-educational and non-denominational with courses ranging from students aged 8 – 18 years. Each school consists of a dedicated team of professional Primary and Secondary teachers with many years of experience, designing and teaching effective Irish language course to all levels. Each course is planned so that the students learn through activities which are specifically designed to improve their oral, aural and written competence. The structure of the course consists of morning classes, afternoon activities such as sports, art & crafts, drama, competitions and evening ceili’s – so it definitely won’t be a case of all work and no play this summer!
